Are You a Candidate?

The best way to find out is to schedule a free consultation with MedEye Associates for a complete examination. Also, you are invited to attend our FREE Seminars at any time so that you may receive more insight into this procedure. You may also take our online Screening Test to see if you're eligible!

  What makes a good candidate?

Generally speaking, good candidates are:

  • over the age of 25
  • in good physical health
  • have a history of good eye health.
  • Additionally, your vision should be stable for at least two years, with no significant changes in your prescription.

Because of significant advances in the use of the Eximer Laser, patients suffering from nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism are now candidates for corrective eye procedures.

What kind of results can I expect and are they permanent?

It is very important that you go into these procedures with realistic expectations. While a great many of patients achieve 20/20 or 20/40, some do not. Every eye is

different. How well your vision improves depends on factors such as the healing process and how severe you prescription was to begin with. Your surgeon will further discuss what kind of results you can expect at your initial consultation.

As far as the long-term effects of the correction, statistics have shown that there is no long-term negative effects on the eye’s strength or integrity. Patients who have been studied over the last decade report no significant changes in their vision.

Typical Eye Conditions

Example 1: A healthy human eye. The light entering via the lens strikes the retina perfectly.

Example 2: A case of myopia. The lens focuses the light past the surface of the retina, causing nearsightedness.

Example 3: Astigmatism, or farsightedness, results when the lens focuses the entering light
